Is a Paisley Tie Really a Good Call for a Wedding?
If there is one style of tie that causes more debate than the other, it’s the paisley tie. These have gone in and out of style many times since the start of the 20th century. That is why so many men tend to shy away from wearing a paisley tie, while others love the individuality it brings to their overall look. If you are preparing for your big day and you’re a big fan of the paisley tie or your hubby is and wants to incorporate it into his suit, you may have already read elsewhere that this is a big no-no.
However, at Knightsbridge, we are here to tell you that rather than listening to what some highly opinionated and frankly out-of-touch blogger had to say on the matter, you should both go with your gut. After all, your big day is about you as a couple and no one else and you should make choices based on what makes you both happy.
There is no reason why a paisley tie needs to be bold or even brash and outlandish, and they certainly don’t need to include a heady mix of colours that make them difficult to go well with anything. Unless, of course, that is the theme of your wedding. There are plenty of different paisley ties out there, so it should not be hard finding one that suits your own individual style or the theme of your wedding perfectly.
Even at Knightsbridge Neckwear, we have a wide selection of paisley ties, from subtle black/grey, blue/navy and dark purples to more attention-grabbing and vibrant pink floral, burgundy large floral, and striking reds to choose from.
One important thing to remember when it comes to wearing a paisley tie to your wedding is that you don’t want it to overpower and distract from everything else. Although we have just said something contrary to that, that you can wear outlandish colours and that they are available from our store. You need to be careful not to go too overboard with it. Remember, the lasting memory anyone has of your big day should not be how distracting or garnish your tie should be. It should be a footnote of the big day.
One way you can tame even the coolest and most OTT paisley tie is by using other parts of your suit. For instance, if you are going to incorporate a waistcoat into your suit, that will help to reduce the amount of paisley that is on display. If you really want to add a bit more pizazz to your suit, you can invest in a matching pocket-handkerchief. Keeping your suit jacket buttoned up will also help to reduce the amount of wild paisley on display if you are not a fan of the waistcoat.
While it’s important to give it some thought, though, you should not get too stressed out about a tie. Especially if you intend on discarding it when it is time for a boogie at the reception afterwards.
